Today's Waterloo Bridge is a great place from which to take pictures of the London skyline.
The present Waterloo Bridge was completed in 1942 during the Blitz, to a rather drab design by Sir Giles Gilbert-Scott.
Sir Giles' bridge replaced a John Rennie bridge, which was built after the battle of Waterloo and from which it got its name, having originally been called Strand Bridge.
